To ensure the highest standard of recycling, we collaborate with a local reputable partner specializing in scrap metal recycling. This partner has set a commendable benchmark within the industry, prioritizing their responsibility to protect the planet. Their dedication is clear not only in their recycling efforts but also in their internal eco-friendly practices and certifications, such as ISO 9001 and 14001, which emphasize quality and environmental management.
One of our partners with a remarkable story is Mick, our dedicated pallet wood recycler. Mick visits our premises to break down spare pallets, repurposing them for his wood turning projects and classes. This collaboration not only promotes recycling but fosters creativity within a community not far from our own. Mick’s work extends beyond recycling; he uses wood turning to connect with children from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to express themselves in ways that words cannot.
Furthermore, our commitment to responsible waste management includes the cardboard and general rubbish we recycle. Thanks to our partnership with a forward-thinking provider, we engage in ecological transformation. This partner actively pursues net-zero goals by reducing their own emissions and fostering a circular economy. Through the production of renewable energy, utilization of electric vehicles, and efficient recycling practices, our partner exemplifies concrete action across various fronts.
Local Suppliers and Sustainable Commuting
By sourcing from local suppliers, we not only contribute to the growth of our regional economy but also reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation.
In fact, an impressive 56% of our suppliers are located within a 30-mile radius of our facility, with a remarkable 46% situated within a mere 15-mile radius. This proximity enables us to maintain efficient communication, streamline logistics, and minimize transportation-related emissions. By working hand in hand with our local suppliers, we not only build lasting partnerships but also contribute to the development of a vibrant and resilient local manufacturing network.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our supplier network and into the daily commute of our dedicated employees. We are proud to share that only 18% of our workforce relies on personal vehicles for transportation to work. Most of our team members actively embrace sustainable commuting alternatives including walking, biking, and carpooling. By prioritizing these ecofriendly modes of transportation, we reduce the environmental impact of our operations and promote physical well-being.
LEAN Manufacturing and Supply Chain Optimization
Through the implementation of LEAN Manufacturing practices, we optimize our production processes to reduce waste, improve productivity, and deliver high-quality products. Our strategic partnership with Metamex, our sister shop, has further enhanced our supply chain efforts. By bringing a variety of services in-house, we have eliminated the need for time-consuming daily drives and collections, resulting in a significant drop in fuel consumption. In fact, our fuel usage has decreased by over 16% from 2022 to 2023 so far.
These initiatives not only contribute to our environmental sustainability goals, but also enable us to provide our customers with shorter lead times, greater flexibility, and exceptional service. We are proud to leverage LEAN manufacturing with Supply Chain Optimization to deliver outstanding products while minimizing our impact on the environment.

As part of our efforts towards a more sustainable future, we have implemented energy-efficient LED and automatic lighting systems in several areas throughout our workplace. By embracing these technologies, we not only reduce our energy consumption but also create a brighter and more environmentally friendly workplace.
In line with our commitment to sustainability, we are actively exploring the adoption of electric vehicles. We recognize the importance of transitioning to cleaner transporting options, and discussions are underway to invest in an electric van to replace our old, fuel-dependent vehicle. By making this shift, we aim to significantly reduce our carbon emissions and demonstrate our dedication to a greener and more sustainable mode of transport.
